More About The Location
Diversity is the word that best describes Mexico's people and geography. Over 50 different indigenous groups, each with its own language, comprise 28% of Mexico's 83 million inhabitants. Divided by the Tropic of Cancer into the temperate North and the tropical South, the country boasts snow-capped volcanoes, jungle clad beaches, deserts, archeological ruins, modern cities, upscale resorts, and isolated villages.Playa del Carmen is located in the center of Mexico's Riviera Maya, at the Yucatan Peninsula. It is a small town still maintaining some of its charms of its former existence as a fishing village. Playa del Carmen is known for its beautiful white sand beaches surrounded by the warm, turquoise waters of the Caribbean. This location is also close to the fascinating Mayan ruins like Tulum, Coba, Chichen Itza and Chaak tun Cave. Playa del Carmen is only 45 min. away from Cancun and a one-hour ferry away from Cozumel Island. Those with an interest in snorkeling, diving, windsurfing, kitesurfing or just relaxing on the beach will find the area especially wonderful.
