1. 3+ Weeks of Spanish in Spain (Brookhaven Locations only)
Everyone knows that Spanish is rapidly becoming an important language for doing business. Did you know that no matter where you learn Spanish, your language will be understood throughout the Spanish-speaking world? Plan a European vacation and learn Spanish in Spain! We offer credit through Brookhaven College for eight of our many locations in Spain, including Alicante, Barcelona, Granada, Madrid, Marbella, Salamanca, Sevilla, Valencia. Combine locations, or pick one and take weekend trips to the others. Soak in the history, art and architecture in some of the greatest cities of the western world.

2. 3+ Weeks of Portuguese in Maceio or Sao Paulo (Brookhaven Credits)
Brazilian Portuguese is a fast growing market in the US, and easy to learn for those who have previous knowledge of Spanish. What could be better than studying by some of the most beautiful beaches in the world? Both Maceio and Sao Paulo offer credit through Brookhaven College in Texas for programs longer than 3 weeks. Take a few weeks in each location to compare two very different cities, or get to know one like a local!

3. 2+ Weeks DR Salud (Santo Domingo)
Attention pre-med and medical students! This program offers Spanish, Medical vocabulary and clinical exposure—all in a short 2 week timeframe! This is what you've been looking for to do over winter break or whenever you have a short break. This program allows you to study Spanish and medical vocabulary for as little as one week, and put it to use the following week by working or shadowing in clinics. You will get to see both an urban clinic in Santo Domingo as well as a rural campesino clinic. Do something worthwhile with your vacation- and build your resume while you're there!

4. 3-4 weeks SALUD in Honduras (La Ceiba)
This program is a flexible location for Medical students and professionals to spend a short vacation or January term. The basic program is four weeks, but we can shorten to three if you really don't have the time. Here you can study Spanish, take medical terminology in Spanish, and get to visit and shadow in a variety of clinics. Traveler's tip: Honduras has a very low cost of living as well as less expensive flights than to many other countries in Latin America. It's a cheap way to do a Caribbean vacation!

5. Universidad Veritas (San Jose)
A great base for easy traveling, good weather and a vibrant capital city with easy access to exceptional natural sites, San Jose, Costa Rica is a great location for your Spring Term. Our university partner, the Universidad Veritas, offers a wide range of liberal arts and Spanish courses, taught in both English and Spanish, so you can build a program that suits your needs and interests. Buenos Aires is one of the world's great cities: beautiful architecture, great nightlife and steeped in history, culture and politics. You can discover one of South America's top destinations while completing a college semester abroad. And don't forget…winter and spring in the north are even better in the “Southern Cone” of South America…January is high summer in Buenos Aires, followed by the beautiful months of February thru April…springtime in the temperate south! 7. 3+ Weeks of French in Quebec (Brookhaven Credits)
Need to satisfy a language requirement? Want to move ahead a semester's worth of French in just three weeks? You can complete Beginning or Intermediate French I or II in just three weeks of study (20 hours per week means 60 contact hours…that's a semester's worth of study!) And Quebec offers the best of all worlds: True, full immersion in a French-speaking city that's just a few hours away from most US locations by plane or just a car-ride away for many. 8. 3+ Weeks of Italian in Florence (Brookhaven Credits)
Even in the chilly January air, there is one man you can count on to always be shirtless and that is Michelangelo's the David. The David is not the only reason to visit Florence. Considered the birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence is at the heartbeat of the country with breathtaking architecture and sculpture, cultural events and museums. Soak up this rich culture and history through Italian language classes. Even in the wintry weather, there are plenty of ways to keep warm outside of class. Stop by a neighbourhood café for a cappuccino; take a peak in one of the many galleries and treasure-crammed churches; warm up with a bowl of pasta; or simply keep the blood flowing by walking through Florence. Just spend 3 or more weeks here and you apply for credits through Brookhaven College.

9. Italian for Architecture (Rome)
The ancient Romans were famous for many innovations and they were at the forefront of architecture and development. Around every corner in Rome, one can find an architectural gem. Just think: the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Circus Maximus, the Forum, the aqueducts, the columns, and the countless cathedrals and basilicas. The list could go on forever. By choosing to study in Rome, these striking sights can be yours to see everyday. Since the time of ancient Rome, Italy has continued its long history of architectural prominence. There is no better way to study these impressive structures than in person with Italian & Architecture classes.

10. German for Journalism (Berlin)
Berlin's historical and economic development have made it a fascinating city; constantly explored, investigated and reported on worldwide by the media. Journalists, media professionals and students studying all realms of communications, have found increasing interest in Berlin's German for Journalism course, particularly if you already have some knowledge of the German language. The program combines group and private lessons in Journalism terminology that give students the opportunity to have an intensive focus on their professional field of interest. 11. Spanish for Law (Madrid)
Pursing a career in law, government, politics or international relations? Are you already a lawyer who needs to perfect your Spanish to better represent Spanish-speaking clients? What better place to study Spanish for Law than in Spain's political capital, Madrid. This program is designed for lawyers, judges, court officials, clerks, law students, aspiring politicians - or anyone who needs to improve their Spanish and enhance their vocabulary with judicial terminology used by native speakers. Choose to study for 2 or 4-week sessions, starting the first Monday of each month. Great program for a Jan-Term or even during your winter break between semesters.

There are hundreds or reasons to visit Cairo. The pyramids in Giza, shopping the Khan-al-Khalili bazaars and pleasant year-round weather aside, students are now choosing AmeriSpan's Cairo program for reason 101: Academic Credit! AmeriSpan's Cairo language program is approved by Brookhaven College so college and university students interested in Arabic can receive Academic Credit while exploring the Middle East's most ancient and fascinating city. You can take programs for as few as four weeks while on a school break! The school offers lessons in both Modern Standard Arabic and also the Egyptian Colloquial used worldwide in news reporting, diplomatic and political relations. Surely a strong asset on the resume of any soon-to-be grad concentrating in these fields!

It cannot be ignored that the Japanese language is becoming a major force in world today. Having a working knowledge of Japanese will take you far in many fields after graduation. Why not get one step ahead of the job market with a language immersion program in Kanazawa, Japan? The best way to comprehend the Japanese language and culture is to experience it first-hand and Kanazawa's natural scenery year-round makes it an ideal location. Plus every seasonal change is so carefully celebrated here in traditional cuisine, decor, and yearly events; January is the perfect time to see what the winter celebrations have in store. 14. French for Diplomatic Relations (Bordeaux)
Are you considering a career in government or diplomatic service? French remains an important language in diplomatic communication and here's a great opportunity to build your knowledge of appropriate vocabulary and usage. If you are at least a mid-beginner or higher, you can gain some solid career skills in a just a short time with this specialized professional program. Set in the lovely south of France, your classes overlook beautiful Place Gambetta and you'll even have some free time to explore Bordeaux.

15. Spanish for Diplomatic Relations (Barcelona, Spain)
Barcelona is the quintessential Spanish city, rich in art, architecture, culture and nightlife. If you're thinking of a career in diplomatic or government service, or even in business or non-governmental organizations in any Spanish-speaking country, this program has something to offer you. If your Spanish is at least at a high-intermediate level, you can enter this program directly during your Winter Term or JanTerm. Combining continuing Spanish group study with specialized training in vocabulary, phrasing and conventions for diplomatic usage, this program is offered in both two- and four-week sessions. In addition, if you choose the 2-week session, you can add one or two weeks of group or private Spanish classes to complete your JanTerm. Be sure to ask us about options for earning credit through this program.
