Learning Spanish for Law Enforcement and Police Spanish means more than just learning to speak Spanish. It also means understanding Latin American culture. This is an important part of creating a successful and productive police force in today’s society. Police must learn to read between the lines, understand the nuances of high-stress communication, and learn how to diffuse situations with competent and culturally sensitive Spanish language skills.
Oaxaca is an excellent example of a traditional Mexican city with a cosmopolitan feel. Locals are welcoming and interaction is high, making it easy to get to know the Mexican accent, commonly heard for North American police forces. AmeriSpan’s Spanish for Law Enforcement (Police Spanish) program can teach participants how to respond to the situations they encounter on job through a combination of group and private classes. Participants will learn the relevant vocabulary and common expressions that they may use on a day-to-day basis or is specific situations at work.

The state of Oaxaca is one of the most important archaeological zones in Mesoamerica. The city boasts an abundance of colonial architecture and a strong indigenous presence. The ambiance is both relaxed and energetic. Oaxaca has one of the most active central plazas in Mexico; there is rarely a dull moment. The blend of cultures sets a tone that is both remote and cosmopolitan.
Diversity is the word that best describes Mexico's people and geography. Over 50 different indigenous groups, each with its own language, comprise 28% of Mexico's 83 million inhabitants. Divided by the Tropic of Cancer into the temperate North and the tropical South, the country boasts snow-capped volcanoes, jungle clad beaches, deserts, archeological ruins, modern cities, upscale resorts, and isolated villages.
