Located on the Rio de la Plata, Montevideo (population 1.9 million) is lively and modern, yet more like a large town than a city. The people are mostly of European descent, as in Buenos Aires and Santiago. Nine sandy beaches stretch along Montevideo’s waterfront, and one is only 3 blocks from the school. The most popular beach resort is Punta del Este, a narrow peninsula between the Rio de la Plata and Atlantic Ocean.
Learn to fly by enrolling in the Spanish & Windsurfing program in Montevideo. This great surface water sport, a hybrid between sailing and surfing, has become quite popular on the Rio de la Plata. Included in the program are a week of group classes and 5 private hours of windsurfing instruction that is flexible during the week and weekend.
Participants: Most are European, and the rest from North America. Many are university students, professionals and independent travelers of all ages.
