This unique program is designed to immerse participants in Japan's important and historic martial art Judo and the Japanese Language. Judo emphasizes attack and defense skills without a weapon. This art was initially practiced by Samurai to help control the mind and body 'perfectly' during battle. The variety of ways in which Judo training is possible makes this sport adequate for students of all ages.
Information about Tokyo, Japan (Click to view)
Tokyo’s population of 12 million plus is crammed together (more than 14,000 per sq mile) and this makes the city crowded, alive, hectic, exciting and overwhelming all at the same time. Tokyo actually is a web of interconnected “villages” consisting of 23 city wards, 26 cities, 5 towns and 8 villages. Home to the Imperial Palace, Japan’s capital is a city of contrasts blending its ancient character with modern economic power of Japan.
Somewhere between the elegant formality of Japanese manners and the candid, between the sanitized shopping malls and the unexpected rural festivals, everyone finds their own vision of Japan. Whether you end up taking photos of a reproduction Eiffel Tower, surfing an indoor wave, or taking a nap in a capsule, you will do best to come with an open mind and be prepared for surprise.
Participants: Students, independent travelers and professionals from many different countries. Wide range of nationalities with the majority from Europe.
