Italian & Ceramics
Sorrento (near Naples), Italy
Sorrento stands on a dramatic line of 150-foot cliffs, looking north across the Bay of Naples. It was originally a Greek village whose name was derived from the mythical song of the mermaids. Sorrento is a flower-filled town which draws thousands of national and international visitors. The small town center boasts an impressive cathedral, a Franciscan church with a distinctive 13th-century cloister, and many lovely seaside restaurants and cafes. Sorrento is a gateway to the romantic island of Capri as well as the historic city of Pompeii.
In addition to Italian language classes, this combination course offers participants the ability to learn the techniques of working, decorating and baking clay the artigianale way in a typical, Sorrentine ceramics studio. On request, excursions can also be arranged to Vietri, one of the most famous and beautiful towns of the Costiera Amalfitana, known worldwide for its ceramics.
Participants: Mixed nationalities and ages. Independent travelers, college students, professionals.
