Siena, Italy
Siena is located in the heart of Tuscany and is known as the best-preserved medieval town in Italy. Set on three hills, the city is drawn together by winding alleys and steep steps, whilst the Piazza del Campo stands at its heart, and the Duomo and St Maria della Scala serve as additional cultural landmarks. This magnificent Cathedral, begun in 1230, is an important point of reference for the entire Italian Gothic architecture, since it provided a basic model for a cathedral and was subsequently adopted in many other Italian cities. Surrounded by olive groves and the vineyards of Chianti, Siena is a precious medieval town with great architectural treasures.
This course is specifically designed for participants age 50+ to learn Italian in a pleasant and relaxing environment while enjoying a wide variety of cultural activities.
Highlights:
- Orientation tour of the city
- Afternoon wine tasting guided by expert sommeliers
- A relaxing half day at the Spa Rapoliano, near Siena
- Guided visit to one of Siena's Contrade (historical city district) & its museum
Participants: International mix of students, mostly from USA, Germany, Switzerland and Austria all age 50 and up.
Other: Important note: If there is only 1 participant he/she will be placed in an Intensive plus 5 course. All organized school activities are free of charge for this participant.
