Over the last few years Montanita has been discovered and is now THE place to hang out on the coast. With many dive sites and the famous Isla Del Plata not far away, the diving is also world class. Although it's small, it is a booming beachside retreat attracting international travelers as well as an alternative Ecuadorian crowd. It is therefore a great place to learn Spanish, meet other travelers and also practice your Spanish with local Ecuadorians.
A great way to see Ecuador is below the surface! This area of the Pacific coast has excellent diving opportunities. It is a great combination: Learning Spanish in the morning right on the beach, and Scuba Diving in the afternoon.
