Chinese painting is known to be one of the oldest and everlasting art traditions in the world. This traditional painting dates back to about 6,000 years ago, the Neolithic Age. Students with an interest in this extravagant art form will find that the technique involves similar techniques as calligraphy and is done with a brush dipped in black or colored ink. Classes will take place in the afternoon and upon completion of the course students will be able to draw and complete a painting.

An ancient capital of six dynasties, Beijing is one of the most famous historical and cultural cities in the world. Temples, parks, and historic sites all sing wonderfully and powerfully of the dream that was Old Cathay, but in the same hallowed space there's a new Beijing taking shape. Just outside the exquisite walls of Beijing's monuments, steel and concrete are steadily replacing silk and carved wood.
China is more than a country – it is a whole different world, from shop-till-you-drop metropolises to the epic grasslands of Inner Mongolia, with deserts, sacred peaks, astounding caves, and imperial ruins in between. Along with the stark contrasts comes stark beauty; there is plenty to see if you can wade through the crowds.
Participants: Mostly from Europe and the US. Average age 35.
Other: If there are no other painting students, lessons will be private and reduced to 5 hrs/week.
