Known as “The City of Eternal Spring,” Cuernavaca is blessed with a perfect climate and flowers year-round. The city is located only about 50 miles south of Mexico City. Cuernavaca is a popular weekend spot for the affluent from the capital because of the many restaurants, sidewalk cafes, and theaters.

This program is specifically designed for teachers and education students of all disciplines who work or plan to work closely with Spanish speaking communities. Teachers will not only have the opportunity to dramatically increase their ability to successfully communicate with their Spanish speaking students and parents, but will also gain invaluable first hand experience with Latin American culture and customs.

• 40 hours of group Spanish Language Classes with an emphasis on classroom vocabulary and other relevant cultural subjects
• Lectures on the Mexican education system, Latin American family dynamics, current events, etc.
• Field study trips to local community centers, schools, foster care facilities, etc.
• Excursions to cultural points of interest including craft fairs, markets, ancient ruins, museums, etc

Participants: This program is open to all teachers, administrators, and education students of all Spanish language levels. We recommend that absolute beginners try to arrive early to take additional Spanish classes in order to receive the maximum value from the program.
