My experiences were once-in-a-lifetime. I learned a lot, improved my Spanish, met some amazing new people, and overall enjoyed every minutes in the classroom and out. Having additional cultural classes including dance, cooking, and crafts outside of the language classes was a great addition. My host family was very accommodating and wonderful. They were very open to the fact that I was from a different country and was not used to some of the things that they did. Heredia was the perfect city for me. I loved the fact that it was small and I could walk just about everywhere. And I didn't feel like I was missing out on the beach all -- I could focus on my classes during the week and then catch a bus to the coast Friday after my test. My host family was great! They encouraged me to see the country and try new things... I had to change my program two weeks before I was scheduled to leave and AmeriSpan was SOOO helpful with this process. It was amazing.

My teacher was always well-organized and prepared for class. She used a variety of activities to teach different grammatical aspects....After introducing new topics, she always gave plenty of opportunity for oral practice incorporating the rules we were taught. Everything about my stay in Costa Rica was all that I had imagined it to be, and even more.

I was extremely impressed with an instructor that I had for two weeks. He was trained in linguistics and second language learning, and had excellent teaching strategies to make learning fun and practical. The AmeriSpan representatives seem to be knowledgeable about the variety of schools that are offered and are able to help students choose which school best meets their needs and lifestyles. It is nice to get objective information from an outside source, someone who is not employed by the school.
