Granada Spanish School Facilities:

The main office and classrooms are located at a short distance from the Parque Central, on Calle El Arsenal, which runs parallel to La Calzada street. The "Calle La Calzada" is one of the oldest streets in the city - generally regarded as very beautiful - the street goes from the park to the waterfront of Lake Cocibolca (Lake Nicaragua), the biggest lake in the country. Moreover, Calle La Calzada is an up and coming shopping area and has a variety of restaurants, shops and hotels. Capacity is 60 students per day.

What We Like:

  • Maximum 3 students in group
  • Private room
  • Walking distance to school
  • Only 1 student per family
  • School organizes some activities
  • Beautiful colonial city
  • Proximity to Lake Nicaragua and volcanoes
  • Possible to switch to schools other campuses in Leon, Esteli, San Juan del Sur and Masaya (if classes are being held)

What We Don't Like:

  • Public safety concerns in certain areas of Nicaragua
  • Basic living conditions (small room, plain food, cold showers, etc.)
  • Teachers’ ability and experience varies

Participants:

Participants are mostly ages 25-40, independent travelers; European (Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark) or North American.

Other Program Info:

Other campuses in Leon, Esteli and San Juan del Sur are available and you may decide to transfer to these while on-site in Granada. In addition, the “Flor de Pochote” Eco-Farm campus in Masatepe, Masaya is offered. Built specifically for international students, the campus is located near a volcano and a crater lake. These locations are not offered independently, and you must begin with at least one week in Granada.

Past Participants Who Studied Spanish in Granada

Richard N.: "I enjoyed the area and the city of Granada. I thought the people were very friendly and a week or two after returning home I began to miss Granada and the very nice people I had met. The homestay was the worst of any that I have experienced with AmeriSpan. It seemed to me that the ""family"" and the house were not ready for foreign students."
