Learn Spanish in Morelia
Spanish Immersion in Mexico
Learning Spanish abroad in Morelia, Mexico is one of many language immersion programs offered by AmeriSpan. Diversity is the word that best describes Mexico’s people and geography. Over 50 different indigenous groups, each with its own language, comprise 28% of Mexico’s 83 million inhabitants. Divided by the Tropic of Cancer into the temperate North and the tropical South, the country boasts snow-capped volcanoes, jungle clad beaches, deserts, archeological ruins, modern cities, upscale resorts, and isolated villages.
Learn Spanish Language in Mexico:
Situated in the heart of Mexico, right between Mexico City and Guadalajara, Morelia is a university city with a European feel. Despite its size (pop. 800,000) the city is fairly compact, with everything of interest within walking distance of the central plaza. Morelia is also recognized as one of the most beautiful colonial cities and is a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site. In addition to its climate of perpetual spring, this city possesses magnificent plazas, gardens, and churches. The relaxed day time atmosphere yet active nightlife makes Morelia a desirable destination for all ages.
School Facilities:
Located in the downtown area. A 10-minute walk to the Cathedral and a 3-minute walk to the park and to “Casa de las Artesanias.” The school has very nice facilities and occupies two buildings: one with 21 classrooms and the main offices and the other with 5 classrooms, the cafeteria and bookstore. Both buildings have a roof terrace where the language exchange program is held every evening.
Capacity is 80 students/day.
Participants:
Mainly from US, some Europeans. Tend to be serious about their study and immersion experience. Wide age range. Also, English is taught to locals.
Other:
Works well for the most advanced level students. The teachers are highly educated in many other subjects besides Spanish, which allows students substantial influence over what is covered in class when taking private classes.
