Spanish Immersion in Honduras
Learning Spanish abroad in Copan, Honduras is one of many language immersion programs offered by AmeriSpan. Honduras shares borders with Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador. The country is home to the Bay Islands and spectacular coral reefs attracting scuba divers from everywhere. Historically, the Mayans were prevalent in some parts of the country and their influence continues today. Despite a stable political situation and low cost of living, Honduras is largely undiscovered by tourists. With a seemingly endless stretch of deserted beaches, jungles, mountains, and Mayan ruins, Honduras has much to offer.
Learn Spanish Language in Honduras:
Copan is a quaint city of about 24,000 people nestled in the foothills of western Honduras, just 7 miles from the Guatemala border. The town consists of whitewashed houses and buildings, old cobblestone streets, a beautiful plaza, a peaceful colonial church and more horses than cars.
Copan is renowned for its magnificent Maya Ruins, a designated World Heritage Site believed by archeologists to be the cultural center of the Maya world. The archaeological site at the ruins is the best remaining testament to the culture of the Mayan Indians.
School Facilities:
The school is located 1 ½ blocks west of the central park. Classes are held in the garden area or in classrooms. The school also has a library for students use.
Participants:
Most students are from US, Canada and Europe. Capacity is about 30 students per day.
