Spanish Immersion in Costa Rica
Learning Spanish abroad in Monteverde, Costa Rica is one of many language immersion programs offered by AmeriSpan. Known as the Switzerland of Central America, Costa Rica has an abundance of natural beauty and is populated by a friendly, well-educated people. Costa Rica has obtained the highest standard of living in Central America by embracing democracy and disbanding its army. This small country is a paradise for nature lovers with national parks, jungles, volcanoes, beaches, and more water per square mile than any other country in the world, excluding New Zealand. However, the small pre-Columbian indigenous population was wiped out by diseases brought to the new world by the conquistadors.
Learn Spanish Language in Costa Rica:
This small community located on the Tilaran mountain range was founded by North American Quakers in the 1950’s. The Quakers began conservation efforts of the cloud forest to protect the watershed. Today, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve covers 10,500 hectares and receives thousands of visitors each year, making eco-tourism a big industry in this area. Despite the number of tourists, Monteverde and the adjoining town of Santa Elena (only 3 kilometers away) still maintain a small town community and a life that goes on outside of the busy tourism industry. This program is ideal for nature lovers.
School Facilities:
A modern 2-story building off the main road, surrounded by pine trees and facing the Gulf of Nicoya. 17 indoor classrooms, garden, video room with ping pong table, kitchen, dining area. Capacity is 70 students/day.

Mainly university students and professionals from US.
Accreditation Memberships:
Approved for credit through several US institutions including: University of Southern Mississippi.
Other:
Additional campus in San Joaquin (a few minutes outside of San Jose), and Flamingo Beach. Accommodations with homestays. You may sign up for these campuses when registering. Onsite changes usually require 2 weeks notice, $50 charge, and are based on availability.

Airport Pickup: $20
Airport Pickup Comments:
* No pick-up is available if not doing homestay.
* If you choose to receive an airport pick-up, you should plan to arrive to San Jose on the Saturday before classes start. You will be met at the San Jose airport and taken to a B&B/Hostel (not-included) and on Sunday students are transferred from the B&B/Hostel directly to their homestay in a private van service.
Program Additions & Upgrades:
* Extra homestay nights: $22/night, if 4 or more extra nights required then $150/week.
*Additional private classes $21/hour
