Aix-en-Provence (pop. 150,000) is an ancient spa and a university town in the heart of Provence, located in the south of France near the seaside as well as the mountains. Of roman origin, Aix-en-Provence is a small picturesque city known for its rich architectural heritage. The city center is lively with many fountains, sidewalk cafes on tree-lined streets and open air markets. During the summer months, Aix-en-Provence hosts at least four festivals including the famous International Arts and Music Festival every July. Easily accessible by train or bus, Aix-en-Provence serves as a natural hub of Europe’s most attractive tourist region.
France is world-renowned for its rich history and spectacular cuisine. The landscape ranges from the high cliffs and rocky beaches in the north, to the resorts of the Riviera in the south.
