Cordoba, dubbed Argentina’s ‘Cultural Capital,’ makes the perfect location for groups to take Spanish courses and learn about Argentinean culture. In the city center, there are endless churches and chapels to be seen, each holding little treasures. Argentina’s oldest university is located here. It is still open to students and the college population gives Cordoba its youthful feel. Just outside the city, visit the sprawling estancias or practice adventure sports like climbing, rappelling, and paragliding in Cordoba's hills.
Information about Cordoba, Argentina (Click to view)
Virtually undiscovered by North American tourists, this city has a little of everything for visitors. Founded in 1573, Cordoba boasts many colonial style cathedrals and buildings. Like many other cities in Latin America built by the Spanish, the city was designed using a grid system and is void of intimidating skyscrapers making it easy to navigate despite its size (population 1.5 million). Cordoba is alive with a university town feel, offering many cultural activities and an active nightlife while still being one of Argentina’s most important industrial centers.
Argentina is the second largest country in South America and borders Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia and Paraguay. With an enormously varied climate, travelers can visit sub-Antarctic rainforests, tropical jungles, mountains, beaches, desert red canyons and awesome waterfalls. The bus system is one of the best in the world, offering movies, meals, and comfortable service to all areas. The population mix, as in Chile and Uruguay, is very different from the rest of Latin America because the population is almost all European. Most of the indigenous people were wiped out in wars during the 19th century.
Participants: Participants of all ages are welcome.
