The fiestas of San Fermin are celebrated in Pamplona every year during one week in early July. They have become internationally known because of the running of the bulls, where the bulls are lead through the streets of the old quarter as far as the bull ring by runners.
The fiestas are celebrated in honor of San Fermin, patron saint of Navarra, although the religious aspect would seem to have taken on a secondary role over the last number of years. Nowadays, the fiestas are seen as a mass gathering of people from all the corners of the world and where the partying, the fun and the joy of it all are the most outstanding ingredients.
This program takes place during the San Fermin festival week and includes Regular group Spanish classes in the morning except on Thursday during week of San Fermin
• Procession & Masquerade of the Giants: Participate in the San Fermin traditional morning (Thursday)
• Guided visit: see the Running of the bulls track and Hemingway.
• Visit to the Corrales del Gas: a visit to where the bulls are kept during the San Fermin).
• Access to Balcony: Access to a prime location balcony to watch overlooking the track where the running of the bulls takes place.
Information about Pamplona, Spain (Click to view)
Located in the Northern part of Spain about 60 miles from San Sebastian, Pamplona has a population of about 200,000. The city sits at an altitude of 1,457 feet above sea level on a hill that overlooks the Arga River and the surrounding valley. The city is famous for the San Fermin Festival each July, in which the “The Running of the Bulls” or encierro is one of the main attractions. During the rest of the year, the city has a relaxed, laid-back feel. With its tree-lined paseos and its cobble-stoned streets in the old city, Pamplona is a nice place to study Spanish.
From its dazzling beaches to its ancient castles, Spain is a country as diverse as the cultures which have influenced its art, architecture, music and lifestyle. It is a land where cathedrals and castles are interspersed with skyscrapers, where modern rock mixes with flamenco guitar, and night clubs compete with cozy "tapas" bars. Spain offers some of the world's most famous museums, resorts, and festivals, making it a unique and enchanting destination.
Participants: Mostly from Europe and USA.
Other: Make sure your dates have you participating during the week of San Fermin festival
