Montevideo is a wonderful place to learn how to sail. Anyone interested in practicing their Spanish while drifting along the Rio de la Plata would enjoy this program. Along with daily group Spanish lessons, students will be taught the art of sailing in 2 - 1.5 hour lessons per week.
Located on the Rio de la Plata, Montevideo (population 1.9 million) is lively and modern, yet more like a large town than a city. The people are mostly of European descent, as in Buenos Aires and Santiago. Nine sandy beaches stretch along Montevideo’s waterfront, and one is only 3 blocks from the school. The most popular beach resort is Punta del Este, a narrow peninsula between the Rio de la Plata and Atlantic Ocean.
The smallest Hispanic country in South America, Uruguay is bordered to the north by Brazil, to the west by Argentina, to the south by the Rio de la Plata, and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean. Many believe the country’s wide sandy beaches are the best in the world, to which the invasion of the beach-loving Argentineans can attest. Safety, health standards, and political stability are among the best in Latin America.
Participants: Most are European, and the rest from North America. Many are university students, professionals and independent travelers of all ages.
