Build your French language skills in the mornings and develop your skills as a painter in the afternoons! This combination program allows intermediate and advanced French students to work with a professional painter in her workshop and nearby outdoor settings to study techniques used in oil painting and charcoal drawing. The afternoon workshops include theoretical classes about the painters of the region and their impact on the history and culture of Provence.
The French lessons in this program will give priority to improving listening skills as well as written comprehension, in order to help students speak with increased confidence and ease in everyday situations. The class also aims to extend students' knowledge of French politics, social life and culture.
The Painting Workshops provide an opportunity for relaxing activity while using your French language skills. You will learn vocabulary associated with art and painting, try different painting techniques and learn about the painters of Provence. All materials (oil paint, brushes, easels, etc.) are provided.
Your instructor runs the "Atelier du Soleil." She is an impressionist painter, born in Aix-en-Provence, and she will make you fall in love with this region! You will paint either in her atelier, in her provencal bastide in the center of town, outside in her garden or in the countryside of Aix.
