Costa Rica is know to many artists to be one of the most inspiring locations on earth. The Spanish & Art combination course is designed to assist participants to communicate in Spanish and to focus on basic drawing skills such as contour, shape, value, perspective, depth and texture. Offered year round to participants of all skill levels in 1, 2 or 4 week durations the goal of the program is to help students use the language of drawing to describe the world around them. More experience artists can focus on other areas such as landscapes, portraits, abstraction or another area of personal interest after a quick refresher of basic techniques. Field trips are taken several time each week to new locations for on-site instruction.

Long known as the surf capital of Costa Rica, Jaco is an active beach town, attracting both foreigners and ticos alike. Jaco's proximity as the closest real beach town to San Jose makes it an extremely popular weekend destination for residents from the capital region. In addition to fantastic surf conditions, Jaco offers endless opportunities for water sports and other outdoor activities, as well as a bustling nightlife.
Known as the Switzerland of Central America, Costa Rica has an abundance of natural beauty and is populated by a friendly, well-educated people. Costa Rica has obtained the highest standard of living in Central America by embracing democracy and disbanding its army. This small country is a paradise for nature lovers with national parks, jungles, volcanoes, beaches, and more water per square mile than any other country in the world, excluding New Zealand. However, the small pre-Columbian indigenous population was wiped out by diseases brought to the new world by the conquistadors.
Participants: Mostly from the US and Europe, with average ages between 18 and 35.
