The rich colors and beauty of Costa Rica make a perfect setting for a photography class. The Spanish & Digital Photography combination course is designed to assist participants to communicate in Spanish and to give a working knowledge of the elements of photography including lighting, composition, apertures, shutter speeds and so on. Offered year round to participants of all skill levels in 1, 2 or 4 week durations, this program also provides an explanation of how digital cameras work and how to improve your shots. In addition students are tutored in basic digital photo editing using Adobe Photoshop. Participants are responsible for bringing their own cameras as these are not included in the program tuition.

Long known as the surf capital of Costa Rica, Jaco is an active beach town, attracting both foreigners and ticos alike. Jaco's proximity as the closest real beach town to San Jose makes it an extremely popular weekend destination for residents from the capital region. In addition to fantastic surf conditions, Jaco offers endless opportunities for water sports and other outdoor activities, as well as a bustling nightlife.
Known as the Switzerland of Central America, Costa Rica has an abundance of natural beauty and is populated by a friendly, well-educated people. Costa Rica has obtained the highest standard of living in Central America by embracing democracy and disbanding its army. This small country is a paradise for nature lovers with national parks, jungles, volcanoes, beaches, and more water per square mile than any other country in the world, excluding New Zealand. However, the small pre-Columbian indigenous population was wiped out by diseases brought to the new world by the conquistadors.
Participants: Mostly from the US and Europe, with average ages between 18 and 35.

Program Notes
- Additional items you must bring along: personal digital camera, the camera manual (if you still have it), cable to download photos, battery, memory card(s). These items cannot be purchased in Jaco.
- Optional items: personal laptop computer, back-up battery. NOTE: there are two computers available for use at the school for downloading, however if you wish to do extensive editing you may wish to bring your own laptop.
- Private room upgrade: $130/week. Limited availability December-March and May-August
