Information about Mendoza, Argentina (Click to view)
Located at the foot of the Andes, Mendoza lies in the heart of Argentina's wine producing region. This stylish and lively city has long been a popular starting point for travelers eager to visit the region's many vineyards, and climbing expeditions on route to Aconcagua, the world's highest peak outside of Asia. The city itself boasts fantastic shopping, dining and nightlife, as well as many cultural and historical sites of interest.
Argentina is the second largest country in South America and borders Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia and Paraguay. With an enormously varied climate, travelers can visit sub-Antarctic rainforests, tropical jungles, mountains, beaches, desert red canyons and awesome waterfalls. The bus system is one of the best in the world, offering movies, meals, and comfortable service to all areas. The population mix, as in Chile and Uruguay, is very different from the rest of Latin America because the population is almost all European. Most of the indigenous people were wiped out in wars during the 19th century.
Participants: Varied mix of nationalities, mostly from North America and Europe. About half of the students are university students.
