Host School:
The DELE, or Diplomas de Espanol como Lengua Extranjera, are the official diplomas issued by the Spanish Instituto Cervantes and the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science certifying Spanish language proficiency at various levels. These standardized tests are often recognized by companies, government organizations, and educational institutions to identify a person's language ability.
In this program, students will prepare for the exam using a variety of classroom materials and samples from previous years' tests. The course aims to advance student ability in all the linguistic skills including: Reading Comprehension, Written Expression, Grammar, Vocabulary, Auditory Comprehension, and Oral Expression.
The DELE exists in three levels; each corresponds to a certain level described by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages:
CIE: Certificado Inicial - B1 Elementary Level
DIE: Diploma Intermedio - B2 Intermediate Level
DSE: Diploma Superior - C2 Superior Proficiency

Coronado (pop. 60,000) is a sunny suburb of San Jose, located about 6 miles from the hustle and bustle of the city. This little town resembles the foggy cities described in fairy tales and is known for "Las Nubes" (the clouds), a beautiful forest of mountains and dairy farms. It is a nice location for hiking and be sure to try the tasty Coronado cheese. Coronado is also an easy commute to the beautiful Braulio Carrillo National Park.
Known as the Switzerland of Central America, Costa Rica has an abundance of natural beauty and is populated by a friendly, well-educated people. Costa Rica has obtained the highest standard of living in Central America by embracing democracy and disbanding its army. This small country is a paradise for nature lovers with national parks, jungles, volcanoes, beaches, and more water per square mile than any other country in the world, excluding New Zealand. However, the small pre-Colombian indigenous population was wiped out by diseases brought to the new world by the conquistadors.
