AmeriSpan's Maestro Spanish for Educators Program in Cuernavaca, Mexico is specifically designed for teachers and education students of all disciplines who work or plan to work closely with Spanish speaking communities. Participants will not only have the opportunity to dramatically increase their communication skills; but they will also gain invaluable first hand experience with Latin American culture and customs.
With the growing Mexican population in the United States, this program is an exceptional opportunity for teachers to be exposed to the culture and language of their students and parents. By learning about the Mexican educational setting, culture, and current events, it will be easier to relate to students and the common struggles they face. Cuernavaca's small town atmosphere and proximity to the capital offer participants may opportunities to enjoy museums, theaters, cafes & restaurants, and much more.
AmeriSpan's Maestro Spanish for Educators Program in Cuernavaca includes 4 hrs/day of group Spanish classes, a variety of cultural and education-based lectures and activities, and 3 field study trips.

Known as “The City of Eternal Spring,” Cuernavaca is blessed with a perfect climate and flowers year-round. The city is located only about 50 miles south of Mexico City. Cuernavaca is a popular weekend spot for the affluent from the capital because of the many restaurants, sidewalk cafes, and theaters.
Diversity is the word that best describes Mexico's people and geography. Over 50 different indigenous groups, each with its own language, comprise 28% of Mexico's 83 million inhabitants. Divided by the Tropic of Cancer into the temperate North and the tropical South, the country boasts snow-capped volcanoes, jungle clad beaches, deserts, archeological ruins, modern cities, upscale resorts, and isolated villages.
Participants: This program is open to all teachers, administrators, and education students.
Other: Please note lecture topics and activities will vary. They may or may not include educational themes. Because of the program's flexible start dates, the number of other participants will determine topics and activities. Activities may include talks on current events talks, Mexican history, the literature of Mexico, the art of Mexico, and Mesoamerican cultures. Teachers can visit a social service program, VAMOS, to see after-school classes and preschool programs.

- Airport pickup is not offered. Students take a bus to Cuernavaca that leaves directly from the airport in Mexico City
