Host School:
In this 3-week group program, you will join an already existing group of teachers from Edgewood College in a comprehensive Spanish Immersion Program for Educators in Morelia, Mexico. In it's fourth year, this program has shown great success and now the program director has offered to share this experience with teachers from around the world.
During the 3 weeks in Morelia, teachers will visit a variety of local Mexican schools to see how classrooms are run and lessons are taught. Participants will also take Spanish classes, join activities, visit an orphanage, and travel Mexico on weekend excursions.

Situated in the heart of Mexico, right between Mexico City and Guadalajara, Morelia is a university city with a European feel. Despite its size (pop. 800,000) the city is fairly compact, with everything of interest within walking distance of the central plaza. Morelia is also recognized as one of the most beautiful colonial cities and is a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site. In addition to its climate of perpetual spring, this city possesses magnificent plazas, gardens, and churches. The relaxed daytime atmosphere and active nightlife make Morelia a desirable destination for all ages.
Diversity is the word that best describes Mexico's people and geography. Over 50 different indigenous groups, each with its own language, comprise 28% of Mexico's 83 million inhabitants. Divided by the Tropic of Cancer into the temperate North and the tropical South, the country boasts snow-capped volcanoes, jungle clad beaches, deserts, archeological ruins, modern cities, upscale resorts, and isolated villages.
