Israel Overview

A country no bigger than the state of New Jersey, Israel offers cultural attractions comparable to Europe, the U.S. and Canada. Luxury hotels, glamorous spas and a lively restaurant scene add to a sophisticated atmosphere that combines ancient and exotic with contemporary and high-tech. Israel boasts an international Opera Company (The New Israeli Opera), four full-time symphony orchestras (including the Israel Philharmonic), as well as dozens of theater, dance, and contemporary music companies. History abounds in Israel and at times you'll find yourself walking in the exact places where the events of the Bible unfolded. Standing at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa, Israel covers a relatively small area measuring just 290 miles in length and 85 miles across at its widest point. Everywhere you turn, you'll see reminders of the world's three major religions - Islam, Judaism and Christianity.

Dead Sea
Located about an hour’s drive from Jerusalem, the Dead Sea is at the Earth’s lowest point (approx. 1,400 feet below sea level) not covered by ice. Has an abundance of spas because the salty water and hot natural springs offer natural healing and therapeutic benefits.

Dome of the Rock, Temple Mount & Western (Wailing) Wall
Located in Jerusalem and built by Islamic rulers in 691 A.D. on the site of the Temple of Solomon. This area holds religious significance for the Jewish and Muslim people and is one of the most contested religious sites in the world.

Sea of Galilee
Christianity was born on the shores of this turquoise colored, fresh-water lake surrounded by the mountains of the Galilee and the Golan

Snorkeling & Scuba Diving in the Red Sea
The Red Sea with its awesome coral reefs is a must see if you like snorkeling or diving. Popular destinations include Dolphin Island in Eilat, Israel and the Egyptian Sinai peninsula including Ras Mohammed in Sharm-El-Sheikh.

Petra, Jordan
Petra is hidden behind an almost impenetrable barrier of rugged mountains, boasting incomparable scenes that make it one of the most majestic and imposing ancient sites still-standing today. It is famous for having many stone structures carved into the rock that look as though they have come straight out of an Indiana Jones set. The long-hidden site was revealed to the Western world by a Swiss explorer in 1812.
